I created this app to help people thrive by using evidence-based practices to improve their quality of life. This app consists of guided audio meditations and visualizations, a progressive muscle relaxation exercise, and writing exercises. Three of the four writing exercises in this app are taken from the field of positive psychology. I was first introduced to positive psychology in graduate school when one of my professors shared about his research demonstrating that cultivating gratitude can increase positive emotions and decrease negative emotions. Positive psychology takes the perspective that wellness is not just an absence of negative emotions, but also a presence of positive emotions, mindfulness, and connection with others. As a result, positive psychology interventions aim to increase positive emotions, meaningful relationships, and character strengths. Because studies have shown that doing mindfulness meditations can also improve positive emotions and overall well-being, I have included these in this app. I also included other exercises in this app that, although do not fall under the category of mindfulness or positive psychology, have shown to improve well-being in several ways. Many of my clients have found the exercises in this app to be highly beneficial. Using this app on a continuing basis can improve your quality of life, well-being, mood, mindset, relationships, and even creativity. I welcome any suggestions or feedback.
